CRAYFISH SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Fisheries New Zealand (FNZ) is seeking feedback on draft fisheries plans to implement management targets that would manage some spiny rock lobster (köura, crayfish) fisheries at a higher level of abundance. The spiny rock lobster stocks being considered for these plans include the Hauraki Gulf/Bay of Plenty (CRA 2) and

Wellington/Wairarapa (CRA 4). The draft fisheries plans are proposed as a tool to implement management targets informed by stakeholder feedbacl< for these fisheries. While this process does not directly impact catch limits it may have lasting impacts for the management of these fisheries.

Detailed information can be found on our website at: Draft fisheries plans and proposed management targets for the Haural<i Gulf-Bay of Plenty_ CRA 2 and

Wellington-Wairarapa CRA 4 spiny rocl< lobster fisheries. This includes a consultation paper which outlines the proposed management targets, the draft fisheries plans, and frequently asked questions.

Consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 8 September 2025.
