Safety

Skippers are responsible for boat and crew. One lifejacket per person on the boat.

Briefing Night

Briefing will be held in the Marquee area adjacent to the clubrooms on Friday 8 February 2013 at 1930hrs (7:30PM)

Anglers

Only female anglers are eligible for prizes and only females may fish. One angler one ticket. Please note all anglers must be 18 years and over.

Fishing times and area


The date of the tournament will be 9 February 2013.
Boats must not leave the harbour before 0600hrs (6:00 am) and a flag will be raised on the club flagpole to signal this. No Fishing In.
The fishing area is between Mercury Island (north), Motiti Island (south) and unlimited to the East.
No fishing is permitted within marine reserves at Mayor.
Fishing time shall be from 0600hrs (6:00am) and all fish to be weighed in must be within the designated weigh station areas by 16.30hrs (4:30pm).
If playing Tuna/Marlin at 3pm, CALL IN on channel 84 and an extension until 6pm may be given.

Marlin (minimum weight 90kg)
Albacore, Skipjack, Yellow fin Tuna (no minimum weight)
Kingfish (minimum length 1 metre)
Snapper (minimum length 300 mm)
Tarakihi (minimum length 250 mm)
Gurnard (minimum length 250 mm)
Trevally (minimum length 250 mm)
Kahawai
John Dory


Line and fishing restrictions

All line weights up to 60kg
All fish must be caught on a rod and reel or a hand line provided it is held at all times.
No long lines, nets (except landing nets), hand grenades or tuna bombs.
All game fish in accordance with IGFA rules.
All fish weighed in must be freshly caught and undamaged.
All fish remain the property of the angler who is also responsible for the disposal of the fish.

Tag & Release

All entries in this category require authenticated photographic or video evidence produced at the anglers cost.

Weigh In

The weigh station will be beside the Harbour Masters office for all species.
Weigh in times 3.00pm  4.30pm. Not in line by 4:30 pm you miss out.

Prizes

-giving will be held on the evening of 9 February 2013 at 1900hrs (7:00pm). The Committee reserve the right to change this if necessary.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st to 3rd placing in each species.
One fish one prize.
Any prizes not won will be drawn.
To claim a drawn prize the angler must be present and produce her entry ticket otherwise the prize will be redrawn.
To claim a major prize the angler must be present, produce her entry ticket and some form of identification acceptable to the Tournament Organiser.

Disputes

Any disputes will be handled by a committee consisting of the Tournament Organiser and four Tournament Committee Members from the Whangamata Ocean Sports Club. Their decision will be final and binding and no further discussion will be entered into.
IMPORTANT: The distribution of prizes within your team is the team responsibility. Set your ground rules now as the Club WILL NOT get involved with YOUR domestic differences.

Cancellation

In the event it is necessary to cancel the tournament there will be no flag flying on the club flagpole at start time (0600) on the morning of 9 February 2013. At 0800 the weather will be looked at again and an announcement will then be made in the Marquee.
Should the tournament be cancelled the bar will open at 1100 hrs and all prizes will be drawn at the prizegiving in the evening.

Admission to TENT

All anglers and anglers guests MUST display a ANGLER or GUEST wristband at all times to obtain access to the TENT

ONE guest wristband per angler is provided.

Additional wristbands can be obtained from the HELP desk.

Alcohol - Food

No ALCOHOL softdrink or food is to be brought into the TENT
